Hope in the Lord

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the LORD

Where is our hope? Is it in a future profession? Relationship? Settling down? Freedom? Hope so often dies away when the thing we are looking towards fails us. How can we keep hope and renew it afresh? Our hope needs to be in Christ and His future for us and others. Joyce Meyer speaks upon the battlefield of our minds being the place hope is found or renewed daily. Are we looking towards the end game and His handiwork in our lives now? “And this is eternal life to know Christ.” Hope in anything other than Christ will fail. If we are not steadfast in our minds and study of His word, hope for a future will grow dim or non-existent. This is because to be steadfast we need reminders. We need truth to turn to when our foundations are shaken. We need to not forget that Christ has a plan for our lives. We need to remember that through His supplication we can move forward. Oftentimes when I grow weary and in a hopeless mindset I get this thought or paradox that the hopelessness is because of the world's wear and tear upon my life and that I have no power to come out of that bondage. This is a lie from the devil. Hope is not determined by our circumstances. It is determined by our outlook upon them. Our hope comes from a foundation in Christ. Joyce Meyer gave many examples of how to refute the lies that take hold in our minds so I would recommend the book or dad's called The Battlefield of the Mind. What is most prominent about her presentation is that Mayer speaks from a background of a circumstantially hopeless life yet she teaches on coming out of hopelessness by a renewal of the mind.
