James 5:3
Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things.
Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
Even though the tongue is a small part of our body, it can be
extremely powerful and can hurt many people. Once you say
something, you can’t take it back. It is like pulling the trigger on a gun:
you can’t stop the bullet and it will go until in hits something.
We as humans don’t naturally want to say nice things, so we need
to be careful of what we say.
James 3:8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full
of deadly poison.
Psalm 5:24 Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful
tongue.
Although we can’t tame our tongue, God still wants us to glorify
him. Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and
preach the gospel to every creature.
We probably hear bad words every day, and when we do we need
to rebuke the people who say them.
1 Timothy 5:20 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also
may fear.
Isaac S.
