God’s Literally Speaking to You!

Sometimes I lose sight of the wonder of the Bible, and start to think of it as just more stories and bits of wisdom from a long time ago. And so I have to remind myself, this is so much more! This is literally God speaking to me! Every single passage in this book is something that God wanted to be available to me – and He thinks it is important that I read and meditate on it, and live it out. For scripture isn’t just something to think about, it is something to think. To make an integrated part of our minds. Ideally, we see our lives through the lens of God’s words. Ideally, we have the “mind of Christ,” for then, as it says in 1 Cor. 2:16, we will better understand the Lord and His thoughts. John Mark Comer writes about “filling your mind with the thoughts of God so regularly and deeply that it literally rewires your brain, and from there, your whole person.” (Live No Lies, Comer, 2021) This rewiring of our minds and the ways we think allows us to combat the lies of the Devil much more effectively, for whenever we find ourselves believing a lie, we can bring to mind the truths God has shared with us through scripture that combats and refutes the lie.

All this from simply reading the Bible as God speaking to us!
